Healthy diet

If you think healthy eating is about starving yourself with tasteless food, you got it all wrong. Instead, it's all about feeling energetic, being healthier and keeping yourself happy. Oh, not to mention that you won't have to worry about being overweight when you finally start eating the way you should.

Before you get rid of all bad food from a kitchen and replace it with healthy choices, you need to set yourself up for a success in your diet plan. Like with most challenges in life, it's much easier to take a step-by-step approach and slowly introduce a modified diet instead of jumping straight into it. This will help you to get used to these small changes and greatly reduce the rate of failure.

To start your healthy diet journey, make it as simple as possible in the very beginning. Don't focus on calories and portion sizes right way, but instead try to add some color, freshness and variety to your diet. Find a couple of healthy recipes which sound like something you would like to try and make it from fresh ingredients. If you follow this simple step, your diet will become very tasty over time - and healthy, too!

If you don't take enough vegetables in your diet, let that be the first step to your new and changed diet. Each time you have a meal, add a salad of different color and pour a bit of olive oil on top of it. Speaking of which, switch from butter to healthier sources of fat for your cooking. Some of the best oils for high-temperature frying are avocado oil, mustard oil, safflower oil and palm oil.

Avoid labeling certain kind of foods as "forbidden". It will create an opposite effect and you'll just crave that type of food even more. Whether it's junk food, salty meals or just occasional sweets, it's better to reduce portion sizes gradually and eat them only from time to time. This way, you can still eat what you crave, but there is still progress being made as you eat them less often.

Since healthy diet will contain a lot of carbs, it's worth mentioning which carbs you should eat. Stock up on fresh veggies, fruits, beans and whole grains for complex carbs. All of these are digested slower than unhealthy carbs, like white rice, white flour, refined sugar in any form etc.

The same goes for fat - choose Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats instead of saturated, or even worse, trans fats. This means using healthy oils from olives, peanuts, avocados, pecans and almonds. You can also take sesame and pumpkin seeds to get your healthy oils.
